On behalf of the Conference Organising Committee, I extend a very warm invitation to you to attend the 2008 ANZSLA Conference between 15 and 17 October 2008. This year, the annual conference will return to Melbourne - a vibrant city with a reputation as an international sporting capital - and the conference sessions will be held in the Members' Dining Room of the awe-inspiring Melbourne Cricket Ground.
In this, an Olympic year, the theme for the conference is the always-topical world of the politics of sport. The Organising Committee is delighted to offer you a conference programme filled with international and national experts in fields that include regulating the sporting market, drugs and doping, broadcasting and intellectual property, and sports betting.
To complement the conference programme, the Organising Committee has put together a stimulating social programme which will take Conference delegates from a laneway bar (President's Cocktail Party, 15 October) to the elegant National Gallery of Victoria (Gala Dinner, 16 October) and finally, to the excitement of the Caulfield Cup at Caulfield Racecourse (18 October).
